
GABM has introduced its international ‘Best Corporate Citizen Award’ program in 2009, and during 2010, the first awards were presented to leading international corporations in 28 industry categories, which have in the opinion of GABM associate members best complied with GABM’s award criteria.
In
2010, the associate members of GABM have decided to broaden the scope of the organization’s
award program to include corporations in the various countries of the world as
appose to only multi-national corporations.
GABM’s
purpose with its international ‘Best Corporate Citizen Award’ program is
primarily to give recognition to corporations who are engaged in good corporate
citizenship practices.
In
addition, the international ‘Best Corporate Citizen Award’ has the objective of
promoting and mobilizing the international corporate community to engage in
such good corporate citizenship practices.
Definition
of a Good Corporate Citizen
A
good corporate citizen is a corporation that accepts the importance of being
collectively responsible for its local community and environment as an integral
part of their core business.
Corporate citizenship
is therefore about the contribution a corporation makes to society through its
core business activities, its social investment and philanthropy programs and
its engagement in public policy.
